The grill was also used but the bread for the sausages looked very thin. Magnus had put the bread on the car seat for better comfort! We played some Yatzy later in the evening when we were resting outside the tent. Hope I have better luck next time… Odda, the place that we were staying at, was situated between high mountains with Folgefonna glacier in west and Hardangervidda in east direction. Then we had the fiord Sörfjorden coming in from north and the lake Sandvinvatnet from south, you could say it was a rather nice place. It was 10 am and we were ready for our first mission. We went a couple of kilometers north of Odda, and then turned right at Tyssedal. The road took us further up in the mountains and we finally parked in Skjeggedal. Since the 18th this place was a well known tourist attraction even in Europe. The road was build by the Norwegian tourist association and if you look carefully when you drive that road you can notice the gold painted T-mark on a cliff. Of course, we didn’t noticed it. We decided to take the funicular railway 430 meters up in the air when we stood on the foot of Mågeli peak. There was only place for about 9 people and from the beginning it was built for material transportations for the power station. The view was of course excellent when we were hanging nearly vertical in the railway. It was easy to walk in the flat terrain and we had mostly the lake Ringedalsvatnet in our sight to the right. In the beginning we had rain but the weather became better and better. We noticed that there was very little water in the lake, at least 30 meters was missing but we hoped that the rain should do some millimeters. The granite dam was built in 1910 and was designed in old castle style. The lake can hold about 407 million m³ water. It was hard to see Trolltunga in long distance but we finally reached it after 2,5 hours. We were lucky to find it, the signs were not so good the last meters. Trolltunga was really delicious with the lake 350 meters below, it was one of the most exciting places we’ve been to. Our modified stove was used for the first time. To save some weight we tried gas instead of spirit this year and another advantage was that we could regulate the heat. It’s always exciting to test new stuff. The food made us brave to step out on the ”tongue”. It wasn’t so scary when we finally stood there and of course we had to take a lot of pictures. Now it was time for us to walk back to Mågelibanen (the railway). We didn’t want to miss the last departure down the hillside. Tonight it was the last evening at the Odda camp. The rain had became a tradition at this place but meanwhile we tried to grill sausages which you have to do when you are on vacation.
