2006-07-16 - Gjendebu - Leirvassbu
Tilltopps celebrated its 10 year anniversary and what was better than a replay of the hike 1996. This year we had a stand in for Magnus. And because of the change we took a female, Annika, Instead.

We started with an early breakfast at the camping in Gjendesheim. Then by a short walk to the ferry. As usual a lot of tourists and hikers in the line wating for the ferry. The lake Gjende was flat like a mirror and we took the time to look at the surroundings.

This day the plan was to walk from Gjendebu to Leirvassbu. A route we hadn´t walk before. We started in low terrain with small birches but soon the terrain went stonier. The first bit of the route we had walked in 1996 but then from the other direction. But after the route crossing with the route towards Spiterstulen, we were on virgin territory.

Our backpacks where of course a bit heavy this first day but the landscape was fantastic and we enjoyed the views. After a short dinner break we went on towards Leirvassbu. Near Kyrkja we were once again on well known terrain. And suddenly we could see Leirvassby far away.

Annika got a guided tour inside the cottage Leirvassby and soon we continued walking a short bit on the route towards Spiterstulen. Our plan was to tent near or after Leirvatnet. But the terrain was stony so we couldn´t find a place until we reached one of the lakes near Troget.

After a quick lunch in the shadow of Kyrkja we went inside the tent and soon you could hear snoring inside the tent.
