Preikestolen - Kjeragbolten 2000
CommonMap 2  3  4
2000-06-03 - Lysebotn - Kjeragbolten
In the forenoon we enjoyed us with 27 chicanes up to Öygardstölen. Delirious? We parked the car and went out in the fog. The hike to Kjeragbolt offered not so hard walking and in the most steep areas they had put up chains to hold on to. On the way up we walked with three Germans. Suddenly the path signs disappeared and we couldn't find the way until someone shout that the stone is right here. It was incredible to see the stone like a wedge between two vertical hill sides. We were not able to jump out to that stone stone in this snowy weather. If you stand on the stone you have 1000 meters of air below you!! A break with cholate bar we felt that it was time to go back. But in the thick fog it became very difficult the see the sign and after a while we were lost. We decided to walk against the wind to keep the directions and not walk in circles. After a while we got back in track. Don't ever forget the compass.

When we came closer to Öygardstölen a bit lower down the the hill, a rescue helicopter was shown up. They were probably looking for some hiker who was lost or hurted. We walked for another 30 minutes and reached the car park again and noticed that more people had came to Öygardstölen. We changed to our ordinary clothes and began our trip back to Sweden. This time we went over the mountain road in east direction. The road was very beautiful with lots of chicanes. We passed Kongsberg and then decided to camp in Drammen. The last leg to Varberg offered no sensations at all.

When the sky was cleared from clouds you got a nice picture of the landscape. This photo was taken just beside the path cross Kjerag/Langavatnet.
