We woke before all the others at the camp. This day we planed to climb the Gausta peak and it seemed like the weather was on our side with sunshine. The car was parked at Heddersvatnet and already from this spot we could see the peak at about 1883 meters above sea level. Some meters from the peak there was a stone cottage built about hundred years ago. In any case we put our gaiters on (some plastic bags and tape can also be used, ask Hansson, he forgot his gaiters at home) and started the climb. It was snow the hole way to the top. Later we heard that this was one of the years with most snow known for mankind. We planed to go here at the end of May first. But the trip was postponed...Luckily for us. The path was quite easy and we reached the stone cottage after about 1.5 hours of walk. We visited the cottage (of course) and found two Norwegian ladies working there. The told us that we was the first Swedes here this year! The peak is quite popular and that isn't hard to understand. You can see about 1/6 of Norway. Fabulous views in others words. But we thought that Norway was bigger. All Norwegians we met told us so... It's said that over 25 000 peoples visit the cottage every year. If you wonder about the mast we can inform you that it's military...and that's all we can unveil! The girls also told us that it was the opening premier this weekend (lucky again) so we tried their waffles and coffee. At the beginning we was a little bit suspicious when they closed the door to the kitchen and started to laugh. But when we got the waffles we could only give them highest rates. The walk back to the car was easy and we met a lot of peoples going up.
