Behind us lies a huge rock that obscures the top but ahead lies Spiterstulen and if you look really closely, you can glimpse the Glittertind. Quarter to nine we leave the tent. We walk and after a while some of us put on gaiters, snow has arrived and large snowareas are waiting. Two steps forward will be one backward, many sighs are heard and sunglasses are on to protect your eyes from the blinding white snow. In the end, we can see the peak in front of us, we see a long line who walk over the glacier and we are told by a hiker who is going down to expect some 600 peoples across the glacier and therefore advises us to speed up to get a chance up there. Terrified, we look up the last steep snow climb, but most prominent of all, I was afraid to walk down again. But half past one we had succeeded, we stood on the top and our goal was reached! We stay up there an hour, eat hard bread and drink expensive cola, look at peaks and hear about Jonas and Bert's earlier hikes in the past years. When we feel happy and I've got me a pin, as evidence, it's time for the descent. The others accelerates and slides down the hill on their heels, but I, Elvy and Annica help eachother down. With great steps we come down, laughing and snowy after a few falls. Once down we set up the stove and food is served, we stay there for forty minutes before the trek home begins for real. On the way down to Spiterstulen we split and go at different rates, but when we're all down around six and we get the chance to shower for the first time before we enjoy a meal of meatballs and mashed potatoes. We clean up and repackage, deciding to postpone the trek to Glittertind for another trip and choose instead to go home a day earlier. During the evening, we visits the Spiterstulen hut, enjoying the heat, before we quietly cuddling down in the tent with tea, raspberry cream, wine and crisps.   Picture comment   Picture (thumbnail) Picture 12-4-198 Our campsite on the other side of Spiterstulen.
