2002-07-17 - Trollhetta - Trollheimshytta
None of us liked the thought of making breakfast so it took a while before we were ready to leave. Today we had to fight against the weather, there were no sight at all, but we had already decided our route and Trollhetta in fog couldn’t be wrong.

The peak before the real peak was 1552 metres above sea level and there was a guest book so we wrote of course our autographs there. The dampness from the sky made the stones very slippery so we had to decrease the speed a bit. Right before the real peak there was a more difficult part to pass where we had to use both arms. We had also some problems to see the path signs in the fog. But the path signs here in Trollheimen were generally very good marked.

During the whole day we only met one hiker and that was at the top of Trollhetta. It was a Norwegian on his way to Jöldalshytta. Unfortunately we had no chance to take pictures because of the weather so we continued towards our next goal Trollheimshytta.
We reached the tree boarder, or jungle, after some downhill walking and our legs were tired. Another downhill leg with rain from the sky accomplished this day.

But everything has a lucky end, and we met a marsh with cloudberries. It tasted really nice. The terrain became more and more like real forest that we are used to back home.

At 6 PM we had reached Trollheimshytta. We took a break in the hut in front of the open fire to get warm. A fire is always nice and a beer is also nice and Norwegians are also nice. After some hours we felt a bit tired so we had to make a hard decision, sleep in the hut or walk away a bit and put up the tent. Well, the answer is of course easy…we walked away. In the path crossing a kilometre away from Trollheimshytta, we found a strategic place. We would have two possibility’s tomorrow, if the sun shines we could climb Snota else if it will be rainy we could walk towards Kårvatn. This place was perfect because now we had the possibility to dry our wet clothes in the trees around the tent.
