Narvik - Kebnekaise 1997

1997-07-30 - Kebnekaise
It was a rainy morning. We only used one backpack and started towards the highest peak in Sweden at 9 AM. There are two routes and we choosed the western tough way.

The way up was hard with stones and fog. On the top of Vierranvarri we felt a bit scary with the fog and the stone formations. The way down from Vierranvarri we could hardly see the path. In the top-cottage just before Keb we realized that we forgot our chocolate back in the tent. But we took a 45 minutes break with the finish people. The cottage was really scrubby not exactly Norwegian standard.

When we sat in the cottage the sun came up and we ran out towards the peak. The peak was icy but we liked it thus. We took lot of pictures and then we went back down the hill. The rain started again and we got trouble when the creek was passed. Hansson felt and Bert got wet feet.

No breaks until we reached our tent at 17.15. We were hungry and swallowed 500 gram of chocolate at once. After that we made a four-course dinner. Magnus jumped into the sauna and Bert and Hansson tasted the local beer. Back at the tent again and another meal except Magnus who was still satisfied.
