Despite of that the peak is only 1564 meters high it is counted as one of the highest in Norway because you are practically starting at sea level. Shortly outside the classic hotel Union in Øye you start the hike. On the parking place they had a water tap and it's not there without a reason. If you are lucky there is only one place to get water on the way up. But don't count on it, try to bring some bottles of water in case. You will notice that this is very important further down in this story! The hike is rather steep uphill all the time towards the peak and you won't get a meter for free. At the beginning the path goes through a forest and is changed to ling higher up. A bit closer to the top this is changed to stones. And higher up means more stones and steeper. The last bit you have to climb and use your hands. Marit and Mette tried to "close the door" for Hansson and reach the peak first but with an astonishing straining of powers the Swedes reached the peak first again. From the peak you had a great view around. But the peak is rather small and only a few people can be here at the same time. Magnus noticed that this was true when he lost our cups. After some bounds they were gone far away. But Magnus decided to climb down and try to find them. This was rather funny until Hanssons sleeping mattress took the same way. Now it was serious! Luckily the mattress almost hit Magnus in the head and after some minutes the mattress was with us again. Our cups had unfortunately cracked on their way down. After a meal and some rest and a deep discussion with two other people (that thought that they know everything!) we continued our climb back. When we reached halfway we saw a helicopter above our heads. Was the Norwegians so tired that they had ordered transportation back to the car? Well, it seemed that a 40-year old lady from Norway had got some problem under the hike up. Probably because of the heat and no water. The pilot landed skillful and took the whole group to lower heights. Article from the local newspaper. We had to go by foot or rather run downhill. While Mette wasn't so delighted in flies as they were in her, she went downhill in a rapid speed leaving us other behind. On the parking place we meet Mette witch tried to cool down a little bit under the water tap. We reached the ferry only a couple of minutes before the next departure. But there was no place for us so we had to wait for the next ferry and this took about one our. We therefore tried to rest a little bit. When we arrived at Håvoll Mettes father and mother invited us to a barbeque evening. Satisfied we decided to have a game of crocket. Sweden won the first game easily. The second game, Norway managed to win with much luck and little skill ness. As relax we took the boat out for some crab fishing and the evening ended with some card play.
