2000-07-11 - Saudehornet
Today Saudehornet was on the program. Easy to climb near Ørsta. The walk begins in thick forest and changed to ling higher up. The flies were a pain but we decided to continue the hike nevertheless. After half the distance we reached the peak Vallhornet, about 830 meters high, were we took a short break and ate some chocolate (wishes from some of us). About 500 meters height remained before we reached the peak Saudehornet (1303 meters above sea level).

The last hike towards Saudehornet was rather steep but quite easy. The view from the top was marvelous and after some pictures we cooked us a meal and rested for a while. Because of the fog in the valleys, an almost fabulous atmosphere were created with peaks that reached through the fog. As agreed before we started the hike, this peak didn't count in our contest between Sweden and Norway. But when Norway reached the peak first, they tried to cheat and change the rules!

On our way down we crossed a steep snow area. To glide on your shoes downhill is fun but to glide on your back with no control isn't. Both Hansson and Berra got a short ride. The rest of the way down went rather fast and the speed increased as we approached the car. With a short finish Sweden won again before Norway.

Via a short stop at Ørsta for some shopping we soon reached Håvoll again. This day it was time for the Swedes in the kitchen again (heard about the Swedish cook in the Muppet Show?!?). An easy curry pot was the meal of this day.

The evening ended with a well discussed crocket match. Sweden won the game (of course!) but Marit protested. Because Sweden had started the game Norway thought that they should have an extra strike after Swedens last strike. This is discussed even today!

The next day we were going to break up and continue towards Skålatårnet and Lodalskåpa. So you have to say that Sweden won the hard game.

Norway-Sweden: 4-5 (We offer one point to Norway for the first reach of Saudehornet)
