2004-07-27 - Bukkehøe
We started at Geitsätre and followed the river Illåe uphill. Easygoing at the beginning. Our plan was to cross the river as early as possible. But there was too much water so we continued to walk up to the glacier. But we couldn’t find a possible place to cross the river. After half an hour of tries we realized that our only chance was to build a bridge of stones. We started to throw stones into the river and after 15 minutes we could easily walk over.

We now aimed towards the glacier, which meant a steep hill climb. Sometimes we had to use our hands to help. We reached the edge of the glacier and followed it to the summit. The terrain here was flat with stoned and some snow. After half an hour we reached the top, which was covered in fog and clouds.

This wasn’t the first trip with bad weather. So we stayed calm and waited and meanwhile we took some chocolate and food. This time we were lucky. The bad weather disappeared and it was photo time! The view was impressive and we could see the steep slope. This massive formation could bee seen easily from Galdhöpiggen.

The walk down went good except for the steep hill before Illåe. Here the terrain consisted of loose stones, which easily moved if you stepped on them. You could sometimes slip away several meters before everything stopped.

At the car park some car loving goats welcomed us. Luckily for us they were more interested of our neighbor car. But suddenly they saw us and we were forced to leave in a hurry.
