1999-07-22 - Turtagrø - Midtmaradalen
We had a breakfast at the camp and then we jumped into the car and left Lom for the next stop Turtagrö. 12.30 PM the backpacks sat on the back. We began to walk up Skagastölsdalen in the lovely weather. Every one of us was pleased to feel that the backpack felt good despite of the weight. After a while we pass Tindeklubbhytta, the place for climbing people, and then further to Skagastölsbreen.

We tried our equipment at that little glacier. The pulse increased in the steep hillside. The wind became stronger when we reached the top. I was lucky to hold my coat tight, otherwise it might have blown away. Skagastølsbu reveals and so did my hunger. We stepped into the stone cottage, which was open. Luck! From here we had a fantastic view with Midtmaradalen in front and Storen to the left. Storen or Store Skagastölstind wouldn't clear from the fog but really powerful although. It had been nice to climb that mountain sometime in the future.

On the way down to Midtmaradalen we walked too much to the left so we had to turn to get right. There were no paths. In a steep hill we tried our snow anchor. When we then came down we saw another easier way we should have taken. Down the valley it became easier to walk. The wind was cold like ice. 22.00 PM the tent came up. A reel dinner finished the evening. We were all tired after a long day.

After the dinner we thought that a small rest could be great, but all of us managed to fall in sleep so deep that we didn't woke up until 2 AM.
