1999-07-23 - Midtmaradalen - Hjelle
We didn't got up so early, but 10.30 AM it's okay. We walked down the valley until the end. The thought was to take left there on an old path towards Fannaråken. The old fishing map we got a couple of years ago showed that there should be a path. Almost direct we lost it. Then we tried to walk a bit further down the hillside. There was no sign of it. We went up again through thick forest with raindrops falling from the sky. We now felt the drop of perspiration everywhere. After two hours we took a decision to change our route, instead we walk south to Hjelle. From there we take the bus back to Turtagrö. Everyone thought this should be great.

Because of our new route we had to get over the river, which meant wet socks and shoes. Our socks were changed and the stove was working with the dinner. From here to Stölsmaradalen the terrain was really worthless. The ground was covered with clay. Stølsmaradalen was situated very nice with flowers and grass all around. Now we felt a bit tired but a big chocolate bar changed that temporary.

The rain kept falling but the terrain became easier. The throat was the only thing that wasn't wet. We fight with our heads turned against the ground down to Avdalen. Late in the evening we reach Avdalen. The cottage looks nice so we stopped and had some talk or rather tried to talk to the female personnel. Here we made a great mistake. We should have stayed at that place. I can't understand even today why we didn't slept there!

After another hour of sleep walking we find Hjelle. In order to our 10-year-old map this place was supposed to be a cottage, but there was only a new toilet there. Magnus felt in sleep in the toilet but Bert and Jonas makes some food in the stove and then put up the tent beneath the parking. I have ever been so tired before.
