Glitterheim - Glittertind - Spiterstulen
Route info
Description This is a very exciting route on high altitude. 2470 metres makes Glittertind to the highest mountain in Norway if you include the thickness of the glacier. If the weather is bad we recommend to walk south of the mountain instead. The route isn't steep at all in the beginning until you reach the glacier a bit down the peak. The you'll probably notice some extra heart beats up the steep snow hill. Try to start early in the morning to avoid walking in knee high snow which is really hard work. On the glacier there are no path signs so just follow the path. Don't try to take another way outside the path, it could be very dangerous to walk to near to the snow edge. You start your way down in easy flat terrain but then you pass a steep hill with loose stones. The rest is just a piece of cake and you have a nice path to follow down to Spiterstulen. Hiking time 7 hours Worth to know The best tent place is after the steep passage on your way down. Glittertind was climbed for the first time in 1841 by Hans Sletten and Harald Nicolai Storm Wergeland.
